Chief Executive, Hong Kong Monetary Authority

Mr Norman Chan was appointed Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) on October 1, 2009. He first joined the HKMA in 1993, and was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in 1996. Before joining the HKMA, Mr Chan was an Administrative Officer of the Hong Kong Government since 1976.

Mr Chan left the HKMA in May 2005 and became Vice Chairman, Asia of Standard Chartered Bank from December 2005 to June 2007. He was appointed Director of the Chief Executive's Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in July 2007. Mr Chan was the Founding Chairman of the policy think tank, the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre established in 2006.
