Mr Dieter Yih, JP

Mr Dieter Yih first became a member of the Council of the Law Society of Hong Kong in 2003 and had served in various Law Society committees since. He was elected as President of the Law Society to lead the 20-member Council in May 2012 until May 2013. He is currently the Immediate Past President of the Law Society.
Dieter heads the Hong Kong law practice of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, and focuses on advising on capital markets, corporate finance, private equity investments and public and private M&A in Hong Kong, mainland China and across the Asian region. Dieter has been responsible for numerous initial public offerings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and he also has extensive experience in corporate restructuring and public company takeovers. He frequently advises multinational and Hong Kong corporations on direct investments, joint ventures, and regulatory compliance.
Apart from practicing as a Hong Kong solicitor, Dieter is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales, Australian Capital Territories, New South Wales and Singapore.
Dieter has served on the board of directors of several listed companies in Hong Kong. He has also served on various statutory bodies and advisory committees. At present, he is a member of the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Training, a Council member of The Hong Kong Institute of Education, and the alternate convenor of the Investigation Panel A of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He is also a member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
