CreateHK

"Create Hong Kong" (CreateHK) is a dedicated office set up by the HKSAR Government to lead, champion and drive the development of the creative economy in Hong Kong. Set up in June 2009, it co-ordinates the Government policy and effort regarding creative industries, focuses Government's resources catering for the promotion and speeding up of the development of creative industries in Hong Kong, and works closely with the trade to boost the development of creative industries.

Development Bureau, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

The Development Bureau was established on July 1, 2007 following the reorganisation of the Government Secretariat's Policy Bureaux. It consists of two policy branches: Planning and Lands Branch, and Works Branch. The Development Opportunities Office was set up under the bureau in 2009.

The Planning and Lands Branch is responsible for policy governing planning, development, land use and supply, urban renewal, building safety and land registration. Its policy objectives are to facilitate Hong Kong's continual development through effective planning and use of land, a steady and sufficient supply of land, efficient registration of land, promoting and ensuring building safety and timely maintenance, and expediting urban renewal.

The Works Branch is responsible for formulating public works policies and co-ordinating and monitoring the implementation of public works projects. It also takes charge of policy matters concerning greening, water supply, slope safety, lift safety, flood prevention, construction manpower resources, as well as heritage conservation.

Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) is a publicly-funded, non-profit organisation established in 2001 with the support of the design industry. With Design for Society as its major undertaking, HKDC is committed to (i) promoting and celebrating design excellence, (ii) championing strategic and wider use of design for creating business added value and community benefits; and (iii) educating the professions and the community to be resourceful and champions for sustained developments through design and innovation.

The long-term success of HKDC requires continued feedback and staunch support from the community and different professions across various design fields, education, commercial, voluntary and public sectors.

The Office:

  • Promotes bilateral trade with and investment in Hong Kong

  • Organises official visits, seminars and liaison activities in the countries concerned

The Hong Kong Film Development Council

The Hong Kong Film Development Council was set up in April 2007 to advise the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on various aspects, including the promotion, development and manpower training of the film industry, public funding to support the film industry, planning, coordination and implementation of publicly funded activities related to the film industry and promotion of film literacy in the community. It is chaired by Mr. Jack So Chak-kwong, J.P., comprises 21 non-official members and two ex-officio members mainly from the film industry.

The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre was founded in 1985. Its mission is to serve as a regional and international hub for arbitration and to support the development, promotion and implementation of alternative dispute resolution worldwide.

With its independent legal system, pro-enforcement judiciary, and a body of experienced legal and technical professionals outnumbering any jurisdiction in the region, Hong Kong benefits from a long-standing tradition of servicing parties engaging in alternative dispute resolution.

Also, with its fabled "East Meets West" history and special status, Hong Kong has also emerged as a favorite compromise for the resolution of Chinese-foreign business disputes.

Hong Kong Logistics Development Council

Hong Kong Logistics Development Council

Formed in 2001, the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council - LOGSCOUNCIL - is an advisory body to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and a forum for the public and private sectors to discuss and coordinate matters concerning Hong Kong's logistics development. It is chaired by the Secretary for Transport and Housing. Its members, mostly industry leaders from the private sector, are appointed by the Chief Secretary for Administration.

The Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council (MIC) was established by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSAR Government) in 2003 to help develop and promote Hong Kong's maritime industry. Chaired by the Secretary for Transport and Housing of the HKSAR Government, the MIC is a dedicated, high-level advisory body comprising industry stakeholders and senior Government officials to advise the Government on all aspects of maintaining and enhancing Hong Kong's position as an international maritime centre.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is the government authority in Hong Kong responsible for maintaining monetary and banking stability.

The HKMA's policy objectives are

  • to maintain currency stability within the framework of the Linked Exchange Rate system
  • to promote the stability and integrity of the financial system, including the banking system
  • to help maintain Hong Kong's status as an international financial centre, including the maintenance and development of Hong Kong's financial infrastructure

The Hong Kong Port Development Council (PDC) was established by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSAR Government) in 2003 to enhance the competitiveness of the port of Hong Kong. The high-level advisory body has a membership drawn mostly from the private sector and is chaired by the Secretary for Transport and Housing of the HKSAR Government. It advises the Government on port development strategy and port facilities planning, and also assists in the promotion of Hong Kong as a regional hub port and a leading container port in the world.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is a government-subvented body with primary responsibilities to market and promote Hong Kong as a travel destination worldwide, as well as to take initiatives to enhance visitors' experiences upon their arrival. The Information Services Department serves as the Hong Kong SAR Government's public relations consultant, news agency, publisher and advertising agent.
