The Hon Laura M Cha

Mrs Laura Cha is a member of the Executive Council of the Government of Hong Kong, Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council, HKSAR, a Non-Executive Director of HSBC Holdings plc., Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, an Independent Non-Executive Director of China Telecom Corporation Limited and a Non-Executive Director of Unilever.

Mrs Cha became the first person outside Mainland China to join the Central Government at the vice-ministerial rank in January 2001 when she was appointed as Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. She served in such capacity until September 2004. Mrs Cha was Deputy Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong where she worked from 1991 to 2000.

Mrs Cha is also

• Hong Kong Delegate to the 12th National People’s Congress of China;
• Vice Chairman of the International Advisory Council of CSRC; and
• Member of the International Advisory Council, China Banking Regulatory Commission

Mrs Cha was Chairman of the University Grants Committee in Hong Kong and Chairman of the Hong Kong ICAC Advisory Committee on Corruption.
