Dr Kam Lau
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer AP Group Dr Kam Lau is CEO of AP Group, a conglomerate of global hi-tech business entities covering North and South Americas, Asia and Europe in the field of manufacturing and consumer electronics. He is also CEO and CTO of Automated Precision, Inc. (USA); President of AP Photonics (Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China) and President of APIZC (Chengdu, China).
Dr Lau is widely recognized as the “Father of Laser Tracking Technology” which technology literally changes the way how modern aircraft, automobile, and many large structure constructions are built. He is also recognized as one of the world’s leading scientists in the development of advanced dimensional metrology methodologies and engineering solutions for the “Factory of the Future.” Twenty-eight years ago Dr Lau started his first hi-tech company as an entrepreneur. Today, the AP Group led by Dr. Lau consists of eight hi-tech business entities strategically located throughout the world.
Dr Lau is also inventor and holder of multiple patents on precision instruments and precision engineering processes. To name a few, these include the world renowned laser tracking interferometer systems for large-scale manufacturing industry; award-winning multiple-degree-of-freedom XD laser interferometer for machine-tool industry; award-winning volumetric error compensation system for machine-tool and robotic industries; world smallest OIS plus auto-focus motor design and technology for major cellphone companies. His fields of interest cover precision engineering, robotics, factory automation, manufacturing, sensing, artificial intelligence (AI) and optical-image-stabilizing (OIS) technology for consumer electronics.
