Dr Chu Gang

Mr Gang Chu is currently the Chief Operating Officer of China International Capital Corporation (CICC).
Previously, he was the Head of Capital Markets and the Head of Investment Strategy Research of CICC. He joined CICC in Beijing in 2009.
He led capital market roles in Hong Kong IPOs of People’s Insurance Company of China, Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, Zoomlion Heavy Industries, Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal, Huaneng Renewables, Far East Horizon, Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceuticals; Shanghai plus Hong Kong IPO of New China Life Insurance; Hong Kong Telecom Trust IPO as a spinoff from PCCW; follow-on offerings of Kunlun Energy, Sinopharm, Shangdong Weigao; China A-share IPOs of Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing, GI Technologies, and public follow-on offerings of SDIC Power.
Prior to CICC, Mr Chu was based in New York and was a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager of Citigroup Alternative Investments managing $2 billion fixed income funds and $10 billion in assets. Previously he managed $6 billion Citigroup fixed income proprietary trading portfolio and was the head trader of its Latin America equity derivatives business. He joined Citibank in 1993.
Mr Chu graduated with a B.S. degree from University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics and Phi Kappa Phi honor from Northeastern University in Boston. He was enrolled in the MBA Program of New York University and is a CFA charter holder.
