Ir Prof Andros Chan is a graduate of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in United Kingdom. He holds a MBA degree from Bradford University in United Kingdom. He is a Corporate Member of Engineering Council in United Kingdom (1993-2000) and Fellow Member of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers in Biomedical Discipline (since 1996). He is a graduate of Doctor of Business Administration from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Australia. Ir Prof Andros Chan is the Adjunct Professor – Interdisciplinary Division of Biomedical Engineering of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2014 – now).

He is the Chairman (2014 – 2016), Acting Chairman (May 2014 – Nov 2014), Deputy Chairman (2013-2014), Vice-Chairman (2009-2012) and Secretary General (2003-2008) of Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Devices Industries Association. He served in different panels and committees since 2003 and the Founding Member of the Association.

Ir Prof Andros Chan was the committee member (2003-2005), Vice-Chairman (2005-2006) and Chairman (2006-2007) and Past Chairman (2007-2008) of the Executive Committee of Bio-medical Division and the Council Member (2008-2010) of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). Currently, he is the Discipline Advisory Panel Member of Bio-Medical Discipline (2010-now).

Ir Prof Andros Chan is the Vice-Treasurer of the Asian Harmonization Working Party – Administration Service Limited (2014 – now), he was the Industry Representative of the Asian Harmonization Working Party (2007-2010). He serves as panel member of Technology Review Panel (Bio-medical Electronics KTI) of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (2011-2016). He also serves as panel member of the Biotechnology Panel of the Innovation and Technology Fund of Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR Government (2013-now). He is the Program Advisor of Biomedical Engineering Program of Chinese University of Hong Kong (2013-2016) and the Advisory Committee Member of Electronic and Electrical Appliance Industries Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (2014-2016). He is a regular guest speaker for different universities in Hong Kong on the development of medical device industries in HK and China, and medical device technology entrepreneurship etc.

He starts his own business in 2002, focuses on product development management and trading business of medical disposable products. He established Pharos Medical Device Ltd in 2005 to manufacture medical devices, which comply with Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s regulation of USA (FDA) and Medical Device Directives of European Union. The site also certified by TUV to comply with ISO13485 requirements and certified by the State Food & Drug Administration as Medical Device Manufacturer in 2006.

Before started his own business, he has over 10 years senior management experience in multi-national corporation and listed petrochemical companies, and as management consultant specialized in Total Quality Management, Business Process Reengineering, and corporate strategy formulation.
