Professor Albert Cheung Hoi YU is the Chairman & CSO of Hai Kang Life Corporation Limited. He is a well-respected scientist, professor and biotechnology entrepreneur. He devoted most of his effort in neuroscience, translational medicine, infectious disease research and contributed significantly in the development of molecular neurobiology and molecular diagnosis. He is the inventor of various cost-effective, user-friendly molecular diagnostic technologies for modern infectious diseases such as avian influenza and SARS, as well as cutting-edge molecular technologies for species identification and food testing such as detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). He also advances biotech development by commercialization and application of various biotechnologies. Together with his latest development on the proprietary EFADchip® system, which aims to revolutionize modern clinical diagnosis and many other industrial and commercial applications, Professor Yu’s innovations have been granted numerous patents worldwide.

Professor Yu is a well-respected consultant and invited speaker and a member of many distinguished professional organizations and has served on numerous committees and boards and is active in many cross-cultural and industrial communities for the advancement and exchange of scientific and cultural knowledge. He has founded the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO), an important platform aiming to exponentially accelerate HK’s Biotech industry growth. He is the Non-Official Member of the Commission on Strategic Development of the Central Policy Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Director of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Director of Asian Fund for Cancer Research, Member of Gordon Research Conferences Advisory Board for Hong Kong, Vice-Director of Neuroscience Research Institute of Peking University, Chief of the Laboratory of Translational Medicine at the Institute of Systems Biomedicine of Peking University, Professor at the Infectious Disease Center of Peking University, Member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Vice-President of the Chinese Neuroscience Society, Member of the Henan Provincial Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong-Taiwan Youth Exchange Promotion Association, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong United Youth Science & Technology Association. He has published 5 books and over 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles and conference papers, and had organized and chaired over 20 international conferences.
