14:15 RMB Internationalization: A New Era for Global Trade and Finance
Renminbi (RMB) internationalization has made significant progress and is becoming a key trend in global trade and finance. Already, trade and direct investment transactions with China are increasingly being settled in RMB. Options for RMB financing are also developing and institutions are making good use of the dim-sum bond market and other channels to fund their activities both onshore and offshore. Meanwhile, portfolio investment opportunities in RMB are also expanding with such schemes as the RQFII and the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. Hong Kong, as the global RMB financial hub, provides one-stop services to meet the growing RMB needs of corporates and investors from different parts of the world. In this session, a panel of experts from the financial sector will discuss the latest developments in the offshore RMB market and how businesses can make use of the expanding new opportunities.
